The Philharmonie, or Grand-Duchesse Josephine-Charlotte Concert Hall with its imposing columns and dynamic architecture, represents a cultural beacon featuring three concert halls which welcome orchestras, solo recitals, and jazz concerts. Combining the proven acoustics of shoe-box concert halls, the Grand Auditorium boasts the qualities of a Shakespearean stage. The hall features eight lateral towers and an orchestra pit that makes the audience feel very close to the musical performance. Seating can accommodate up to 1,500 spectators. It's an architectonic gem both from the outside and inside. The building itself features a unique oval shape as designed by French Pritzker Prize winner Christian de Portzamparc. The design was made possible through the use of colonnade screen constructed by more than 823 steel columns. Located at the centre of the Luxembourg's European quarter on the Kirchberg plateau, the concert hall draws in a large public due to its outstanding accoustics, spectacular programme and world class performers that turn it into a magical experience altogether.

'The Philharmonie has an excellent orchestra and world-class musicians visiting. Tickets come at affordable prices which makes it great value for money. It is probably one of the most understated things to do in Luxembourg and simply fascinating to witness and absorb the atmosphere. - It's one of our favourite escapes.
Five months prior to the hall's opening, the Grand Duchess Josephine-Carlotte, after whom the conert hall is named, died on Jan 10,2005.' Tripadvisor 'Certificate of excellence 2014' Flatshare Luxembourg
